AIOPA - Monthly Meeting

During the August 9 meeting:

  • Opening Prayer was offered by Fr. Paul Lundberg.

  • Florian gave an update of what is happening outside this group activities/meetings with AOCB/AIOPA as well as an overview of what has been accomplished to date.

  • Several workgroups were represented and reviewed their activities and accomplishments. Please see the attached presentation for full details. Highlights from the slide deck presentation include:

    • Religion – Fr. Theodore from Holy Cross – Invited all to the first Cross Dive on September 11th @ Lake Tobesofkee.

    • Charity – Julia Hill spoke to the Project Mexico- 8 Orthodox churches from across the US. Over 100 individuals and 4 priests were present to help build a house for a family of 4 that were sharing a living space with family members.

    • Development – John Marion shared information regarding the Parish Council Presidents round table on July 25th. Meeting went well. All felt the material was beneficial. They will meet quarterly to continue this collaboration.

    • Social – Toni Taggart gave recap of all events and quantity of events that are being posted for each month.

  • Fr. Paul Lundberg spoke regarding the Connect Conference for young adults - continuing live after Covid. They have been having these conferences since 2017. If you know of an Orthodox individual interested in any of these needs, please provide them the link to the contact person.

  • Fr. Anthony provided details on the Liturgical Arts Academy. Now a part of the Metropolis of Atlanta Religious Education program. There is currently a waiting list to join.

  • Cristina Lekas provided an update on the Ancient Faith Podcast – they are excited to have participants get involved.

  • Liviu Sofian mentioned the OCL meeting is coming together on Oct. 14, 15.

  • Clergy Spotlight – we have 6 posted so far.

  • Fr. Christos thanked everyone for their participation and commitment to this responsibility we have been tasked with.

  • Fr. Anthony Salzman offered the closing prayer.
